Client Services, Safety, and Operation:

Operation H.O.P.E. maintains contracted screening and case management services for shelter residents. Participation in these activities is required for shelter clients. Clients are also provided with assistance in job skills, housing, and other personal needs. A variety of classes for adults are presented and tutoring assistance is available for youngsters.

The shelter is a modest structure located in Vista. It is open from December through March. It has a capacity of 50 people with rooms for 17 families and single women. In order to make certain that the shelter is safe for those who seek shelter there, all residents must be free from the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. Mandatory testing is required on entry and is also done randomly. No aggressive behavior is allowed.

Evening meals are prepared and delivered to the facility by church and service organizations. Although refrigeration and microwave are available, there are no cooking facilities in the shelter. Breakfast and lunch are managed through donations appropriate to the absence of a full kitchen.
